These tactics will help you deal with what’s holding you back and motivate you to become a fearless achiever.
Do you have a goal that keeps eluding you? Did “someday” turn into “later” and eventually into “never”? Sometimes the thing that prevents you from succeeding is self-sabotage. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can get past it and achieve your dreams by employing the following strategies.
Confront Your Fears
What’s the worst that could happen? Think of all the wrong turns your life could take and where they could lead you. Unemployment? Illness? Bankruptcy? Or just plain failure? When you mentally navigate these scenarios, you can begin laying the groundwork for avoiding or escaping these pitfalls.
There will always be distractions: the internet, must-watch television shows, shopping, or even household chores. However, these things will still be waiting for you as you work towards – and accomplish – your goals. Focus on your imminent success and go forward with a positive mindset.
Find a Balance
When you have a lot of things on your plate, some may have to take a back seat. Use printed calendars, daily planners, or calendar and productivity apps (whichever works for you), to stay on track and bring stability to your day. Staying organized will help keep you focused on your goals.
Lose the Excuses
Eliminate the word “can’t” from your vocabulary. If there’s something you want to achieve, work towards it. Whether you use a vision board, watch Shia LaBeouf’s “Just Do It” video, or listen to the words of someone who inspires you, get motivated and believe that you’re capable of success.
It’s common to want to quit when we encounter difficulties or to resist when faced with change. However, greater triumphs await when we confront our challenges with confidence. If legendary Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Bobby Baun could ignore the pain of a broken leg to score the winning goal in the 1964 Stanley Cup Final, surely you can overcome a few difficulties to achieve your goals.
Take stock of your life. Become aware of the thoughts, beliefs, and actions that hold you back or tie you down. Take advantage of the many meditation techniques and behavioural therapies that can help you blast through the blocks that are keeping you from attaining your desired advancement.
Reward for Sharing
Start small and take it from there. If you want to write novel, practice by writing a letter first. If a university degree is your target, visit some websites to see how you can accomplish it. If losing weight is your goal, start by walking around the block. Growth can be minimal or exponential, depending on your comfort level. Work steadily toward meeting your goal and eventually exceeding it.
Let go of the toxic expression, “It’s too late”; it isn’t. No one except you is keeping track of your deadline for accomplishing your goals. You can begin right now, which is one day sooner than tomorrow. The earlier you start, the closer you’ll be to achieving your dream.
